With my Line Art paintings I am drawn to spareness, a combination of isolation and aloneness, yet also peace and tranquillity.
I lived in Africa and that inspired the bright colours I use in my work. I paint small oil pieces that people buy, two or three at a time, to brighten up their walls. I also paint larger acrylic works which I call Line Art, as shown in my two swimming pool scenes. I used to paint these when I lived in Africa, but no longer have a large studio, so space is at a premium. I love both these strings to my bow.
I started co-running North Street Gallery in Bristol four years ago with three other artists. We support emerging artists who would not otherwise have a platform to showcase their work. They rent wall space plus 15% commission on sales. We promote their work and after three months they move on and we take on new artists. The artists usually come back the following year. I love my two jobs. North Street Gallery is on Instagram.
