I’m interested in how data/scientific evidence can be harnessed as a means of activism that encourages change, utilising raw data relating to social and ecological issues as a means of driving kinetic movement and colour change through the development of interactive sculptural forms.
Alexis Over Papatzaneteas is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice examines the interplay between data and artistic expression. By presenting raw data within an artistic medium, Alexis provokes emotional engagement, transforming abstract information into a powerful catalyst for awareness and dialogue. His work highlights the potential of scientific evidence as a tool for activism, addressing pressing social and ecological issues. Through interactive sculptural forms, Alexis explores the dynamic possibilities of kinetic movement and colour change, utilising these elements to reflect the ever-shifting narratives within his data sources.
Rooted in innovation and a commitment to fostering change, Alexis's projects invite audiences to connect with complex topics on an intuitive level. Currently based at Spike Island Studios, his work is informed by bridging the gap between art, science, and activism, encouraging viewers to rethink their relationship with the world’s most urgent challenges.
